ABOUT ME
hi, I’m Jessica.
I’m a yoga teacher, marriage and family therapist, and lifelong student, with over 12 years of teaching experience and more than 23 years of personal practice.
My yoga journey began at age 12 with Bryan Kest in my hometown of Santa Monica. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of studying with many influential teachers, including Maty Ezraty, Annie Carpenter, Joan Hyman, Janet Stone, Shiva Rea, Tias Little, Jason Crandell, Patrick Beach, and Carling Harps.
I’ve long been devoted to the meditative arts and wisdom traditions, with a deep curiosity about the nature of suffering and liberation. In my 20s, I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy while studying Mahayana Buddhism and attending annual retreats.
I later spent three years as a resident at Mount Madonna Center, immersing myself in the teachings of Baba Hari Dass, classical Yoga, Vedic Yoga, Ayurveda, and service. There, I worked within both the Ayurveda and Yoga Teacher Training departments, deepening my practice and teaching. Following this time, I continued my studies on a three-month pilgrimage to India. The teachings of classical Yoga continue to shape how I practice, teach, and live.
In my 30s, I earned a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology. Today, my work as a yoga teacher and therapist deeply inform one another. With over a decade of experience supporting others through somatic and holistic modalities, I view the body as a wise and powerful source of insight and transformation.
Outside of study and career, I’m a lover of music, dance and all kinds of movement - happiest sweating, and getting down on a festival dance floor to a deep bass set under the full moon lit sky.
My teaching is an integration of all my lived experiences, blending classical wisdom, modern movement science, psychological insight and my love of music and flow arts. I’ve curated a yoga offering that’s equally deep & philosophical, flow-state like, physically edgy, playful, sweaty and smart. I aim to support students not only in building physical capacity, but in deepening awareness, reconnecting to themselves, and cultivating a sense of wholeness - where all parts - mind, body, Spirit, - wise one & inner child - are met.
At its heart, my work is about remembering, returning to the body, the breath, and the deeper truth of who we are. I strive to offer a practice that is both grounding and expansive, challenging and nourishing, and ultimately, a doorway into a more courageous and liberated life.
